These trees follow the empirical formula of the Fibonacci sequence in their branches and their roots. In this case, the Fibonacci sequence is expressed as a series of never-ending numbers, where the previous two numbers of the list add together to make the next number: 1,1,2,3,5,8… and so on. I begin with the highest number, and then continue down the series; for example, I will pull three branches from a solid cylinder of glass. Next I will add two branches on each of the three original ones. After that, I will add one branch on each of the two branches, and finally I will add another single branch onto each of the one branches. The largest tree has a total of 210 branch and root structures. This body of work is a study of the natural patterns of growth and expansion in nature, and how they physically manifest.
